In 2023, President Donald Trump was found liable of sexual abuse.
Donald Trump has many sexual abuse accusations against him from various women; some dating as far back as the 1970s. One woman received justice when she brought Trump to court.
E. Jean Carroll sued Donald Trump for sexual assault and defamation. The allegations date back to 1996, but he was not found liable until May of 2023. When he was accused by Carroll, he called her a “nut job”, and has done the similar name calling to the other women that have accused him. She stated that she sued Trump in order to “clear my name and to get my life back. Today, the world finally knows the truth. This victory is not just for me but for every woman who has suffered because she was not believed.”
Donald Trump attempted to appeal this decision, but the court’s denied it in December of 2024.
In addition to his legal liability, Donald Trump was recorded talking about women, and saying the infamous line, “grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.” This rhetoric of being able to manipulate women- particularly those in inferior positions to your own- by having sex with them is extremely harmful.
Donald Trump has said and done countless other things that are misogynistic and predatory; being a liable sexual abuser is just the icing on the cake. We must ask ourselves why it is okay for us to have a president in office that committed such horrid crimes, and speaks so poorly of women.
Now more than ever we must fight for sexual assault survivors, and work together to prevent it.
